Handcrafted Sophistication

Some of my fondest memories are of when I would accompany my late grandfather on jewelry trips in Jaipur, India. Discovering the magnificent shapes and colors of precious gemstones and the artisan’s meticulous bespoke craftsmanship, immediately evoked the romanticism of an era long gone by. I’ve combined my ancestral Indian jewelry making roots with my American sense of style to develop unique pieces of jewelry that embrace both the timeless East and the modern West.”

- Madhuri Parson

Refined taste and stunning originality are the hallmarks of Madhuri Parson’s jewelry. Since she launched her first collection in 2011 in US, the Indian designer’s intricately crafted pieces for women of all ages have caused quite a stir, with an international following in London, Paris, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dubai and Mumbai.

Drawing from six generations of Indian family jewelry tradition, Madhuri combines Eastern heritage with modern Western aesthetics, fusing classical styles with sophisticated shapes. In doing so, she has created a rare blend of luxury and elegance that has garnered her recognition from luxury online retailer Moda Operandi. US industry show JCK also nominated her for a Rising Star award in 2012.

“I wanted to create jewelry that enhances a women’s playful self and individuality,” explains Madhuri who studied jewelry design at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and Gemological Institute of America. “I realized there was a gap in the market, for high end, versatile and exotic jewelry that enhances individuality - pieces that are undeniably chic, yet understated enough to be worn both at the office and in a social environment.”

As well as producing bespoke pieces, Madhuri sells her dramatic collections through high-end retailers such as Harvey Nichols in London and Bloomingdale’s in US. Recently, she has also started to turn her attention to jewelry for the bridal market, again creating distinctive, modern designs using time-honored processes. “That’s my goal,” she explains, “to bring back old techniques and use them to make pieces that are truly innovative and timeless.”

HERITAGE

Sixth generation jeweler Madhuri Parson fuses Eastern tradition and Western sensibility. Born into a family of jewelers in India, her first glimpse into the jewelry world was spending time with her late grandfather in India who taught her the tradition of jewelry making. He was an innovator and one of the pioneers who wholesaled precious gemstones abroad in London, Paris, and Geneva. He taught her about the global marketplace, how to review gems, and shared his wisdom to respect and honor others. Madhuri’s admiration for her family led her back to Jaipur and Mumbai to develop her eponymous fine jewelry brand’s first collection.
